Feldenkrais: common misspellings

Like Pilates and Alexander, the Feldenkrais Method is named after the man who developed it, Moshe Feldenkrais. And it is understandable that it is commonly misspelt.

Here are the misspellings I have seen:

    Feldenkreis
    Feldenkreist
    Feldenkris
    Feldenkrist
    Feldenchrist
    Feldoncraise
    Fendelkrais
    Feldenkrias

It can help to remember that Fel-den-krais rhymes with rice.

It is definitely not a cult and doesn’t have anything at all to do with following a guru.

My friends teased me about going to the ‘church of feldenchrist’ during my training. I would leave my home city for a month at a time to attend the training program in Sydney – 8 months over four years. I would excitedly share the things I had learnt on my return home.

Studying Feldenkrais allows me to become more and more my-self. Central to its philosophy is understanding one’s own movement, habits and reactions. Understanding what I need, and providing it for my-self.
